Brace for the Battle
When a warship prepares for battle, the vessel is stocked and the guns are loaded for a fight to the death. If the crew is unprepared for war, the ship and its crew will inevitably be lost. This is a lot like the fight we face in advancing the Kingdom of God. In 1 Timothy 1, Paul encourages young Timothy to, “wage the good warfare, holding faith and a good conscience.” When our faith is neglected and our conscience gets seared, we are at risk of shipwrecking our faith. Unfortunately, we know this story all too well, as we remember other brothers and friends who have destroyed their lives in the trenches of ministry.
Brothers and sisters, it is our goal to help you boldly advance the Kingdom in our city by fighting the good fight of faith. To do this, you need to prepare the ships! You need to be braced for the battle so that when the fighting gets difficult, the enemy doesn’t win. At this years PlantMidwest gatherings in St. Louis, we will be talking about how to brace for the battle by having a Spirit-guided vision; attending to your own self-care needs; protecting your marriage, and developing healthy gospel partnerships. And we won’t just talk about these things… we will earnestly pray that God will grow our faith and unity in the gospel, so the enemy will be defeated and King Jesus will be BIG in our city. We invite you to join us as a team of missionaries as we gather again in 2018 to learn, pray and connect!
